What does starquad mean?

A traditional balanced cable uses three wires to carry audio signals: a shielded one for the positive, a shielded one for the negative, and a plain outer jacket that acts as a ground. A balanced cable effectively rejects unwanted noise by removing common signals on both the positive and negative. Starquad's construction goes further and uses four wires instead of two: two each for positive and negative and a single ground. This helps further shield audio from RFI (radio frequency interference) even more than a traditional 3-conductor cable.

What is "Double-Ruessen" shielding?

Most cable construction techniques use an outer casing of ground wire. Some manufacturers braid this wire, while others simply wrap the wires evenly to protect the inner wires from electromagnetic interference. Double-Ruessen shielding goes far beyond more traditional techniques in two ways: First, the wire is wrapped with not one but TWO separate shields, and second, the outer shield is wrapped in a direction opposite to the inner shield. This creates a stronger and more complete EMI shielding and can lead to a surprising reduction in interference. Double-Reussen shielding is somewhat more expensive to produce, but is currently the pinnacle of balanced cable technology.

Why use gold and silver connectors?

Precious metals are not only beautiful: some also have characteristics that are advantageous for signal transfer. While the actual audio transfer capability of gold and silver connectors is roughly similar (decontextualized, silver is actually slightly better in this regard), Warm Audio put gold connectors in the Premier line primarily because gold offers more corrosion resistance than other precious metals.
In any case, both Premier and Pro sound great-the cables do not color the audio signal at all! With Warm Audio's line of microphones and signal processing equipment, you can hear all the vibration, thickness, and air produced by the machines without being compromised by inappropriate wiring.
How does the braided outer casing help?

Warm Audio uses a braided nylon outer wrap on the Premier line for a number of reasons: the wrap removes the friction that occurs when rubber or PVC rubs together, so it is much easier to handle and wrap the cable. It also adds an element of strength and reliability, as it helps protect the cable's PVC jacket from damage due to pinching or binding during movement
